Your spiritual direction practice is waiting for you!

Let’s begin

There is an amazing array of spiritual direction programs. Learning to be a spiritual director requires vocation and growth. Amy offers a one-on-one tailored experience to those who have been in ministry, have been in spiritual direction and preferably hold a degree in theology or ministry (M.Div, or MA or equivalent). Our focus presumes you are doing the work of your spiritual commitment. Our focus together is on building a practice and honing your vocational skills in specific ways.

Spiritual Direction is an unregulated ministry. Some denominations recognize a spiritual director as eligible for ordination. The care we all need to take is to maintain professional integrity on our own because there is no overseeing organization. We hold ourselves accountable when calling ourselves spiritual directors.

We will cover the art of deep listening. It is an art. It is hard. We have to be diligent to keep our own opinions, stories, feelings in check. Being a spiritual director is not about dispensing wisdom, although that does happen. It is more about creating sacred space so that the client/directee is able to detect and hear the Holy that rises within them.

At one time, spiritual direction looked a certain way. But thankfully, we are able to all bring our own unique way to the session, our own unique craft, our own unique vocational gifting. We will explore this one-on-one so that you are building a practice that is so central and integrated to your being that you can easily breathe authenticity into every encounter.

This is an 12-18 month program:

  • 12 -18 Monthly two-hour sessions of topical conversations and exploration, $75 a session

  • up to 30 minutes of supervision are included in the monthly sessions so that you can begin offering spiritual direction as soon as you are ready

  • a self created 3-month internship with 5 different clients, offering 3, 50-minute sessions that include a final feedback form from each directee

What we will cover:

  • skillset of deep listening; letting go of the ego, tuning the ear, intuition, holding silence

  • building an online presence as your front office: defining your practice, scheduling, payments

  • crafting the 50 minute session movement from opening to closing

  • integrity, authenticity, referrals for therapy, coaching or not

  • encouragement and growth

  • books & readings

  • your own great questions and hopes, insecurities and fears

  • membership in SDI (formerly known as Spiritual Directors International)

Amy’s street cred to be your apprenticeship guide:

  • 11 successful years of building a spiritual direction practice from scratch

  • 30 years of ministry in various settings

  • credentialed coach through the Mindfulness Coaching School and ICF

  • has been in spiritual direction nearly continuously since 1997 with 4 different gifted directors

  • does her own personal, emotional, spiritual work daily, sees her own spiritual director every 3 weeks

  • she cares deeply about the vocation, about growth, about you, about the directee

  • Amy leans into the role of guide over the role of teacher, she will be listening keenly to you in order

to cut through your own BS,

    to illuminate your spiritual gifts,

to see the wonder in you,

to help discern your vocational path

Our end goal? That you have a stake in your holy vocation, are able to bring in an income, can claim your identity as a spiritual director

How do we begin? Contact Amy via email, text or phone for a simple conversation about your interests. If you wish to continue, she will send you an agreement form and you can arrange your first session.
